I have a Massey Ferguson 231 that I picked up from a lady that said it has been sitting a while. Changed fluids when I got it and it ran well. One time while using it the power steering quit working. Parked it checked fluid no fluid. Found out it had all moved to the engine oil. I was told power steering pump. So changed that. It worked fine for I would say 10-15 hrs. Noticed steering getting stiff. Stopped and checked things out. Same thing. Looks like control valve in steering column is the only other thing in steering system. Am I correct or am I missing something. Thanks for the help.

When you replaced the pump was it a new , remanufactured, or salvage? Does it have a new filter in it?

Did you disconnect the lines and flush out the contaminated fluid before running the new pump?

If the pressure is too high from a clogged filter or the seals failing or defective the fluid will be pushed into the engine oil.

Best of luck. ....
